What to Do at Reid State Park
Reid State Park has something for everyone and every activity level. There are always new to things discover, and it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery! The Reid State Park hours of operation are typically from 9 a.m. until sunset, so you have plenty of time to experience all of these great activities.
Relax on the Sandy Beaches
Reid State Park is the ideal location for relaxation, with two different beaches and sand dunes. Explore the park and see some endangered bird species along the way. Or, set up a couple of chairs on the beach and enjoy the sound of the ocean. In the summer months, the water is great for swimming! You can even bring along a surfboard and try your luck at riding the waves. Be aware of the undertow and if you have small children with you, it’s best to swim in the calmer water closer to the entrance of the park. All of these different features make Reid State Park one of our favorite beaches in Maine!
Explore the Hiking Trails
Reid State Park has several miles of hiking trails through some absolutely beautiful scenery. Plan on bringing along a good pair of shoes and some sunscreen so you can enjoy the truly spectacular views. From the top of Griffith Head, a rocky overlook in the park, you can see three different lighthouses and a panorama of the sea. The views are worth the hike, so be sure to bring your camera!
