There’s nothing better than fresh produce in the summertime. The tomatoes are ripe, the berries are sweet, and everything is vibrant and delicious! If you want to pick up some local food during your summer trip to Maine, look no further than the Boothbay Farmers Market. It’s held on the Boothbay Town Common and features approximately 30 vendors selling everything from fruits and vegetables to plants, flowers, jewelry, and candles. Read on to find out about the vendors.
Visit the Boothbay Farmers Market
Open from May to October, the Boothbay Farmers Market is a seasonal event that attracts locals and visitors alike. Stop by on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a true taste of Midcoast Maine. Here are some of our favorite vendors.
Big Barn Coffee
If you need a cup of joe to start your day, Big Barn’s organic coffee will do the trick. This company sources their beans from small batch farmers in the mountains of Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The beans are then roasted here in Maine using a small, gas-fired roaster. The result is some of the best coffee in the area.
Boothbay Craft Brewery
Known for creating delicious brews in a wide range of flavors, Boothbay Craft Brewery is a local favorite. Feel free to purchase some beer at the market or visit the brewery for a tour and tasting. You can even take advantage of our VIP Local Brewery Tour package!
Did you know that we purchase all of our fruits and vegetables from Goranson Farm? In addition to seasonal produce, Goranson sells maple syrup, farm-raised meats, and storage crops at their farm stand and the Boothbay Farmers Market. Be sure to check it out while you’re in the area.
Since 1999, Hahn’s End has been crafting artisan cheese made from local cow’s milk. They specialize in aged raw milk cheeses and even produce blue and semi-soft styles. You can find Hahn’s cheese in nearby cheese shops, restaurants, and on the cheese boards at Topside Inn.
Oyster Creek Mushroom Company
Oyster Creek Mushroom Co. has grown the very best Shiitake mushrooms since 1989. They also sell wild varieties like Porcini, Chanterelle, Back Trumpet, and Hen of the Wood mushrooms. If you’re a fan of fungi, stop by and say hello!
Pemaquid Lobster and Seafood
No trip to Maine is complete without some seafood! Visit Pemaquid Lobster & Seafood for a fresh catch of the week that includes fillets of salmon, haddock, swordfish, and halibut. You’ll also find shellfish like oysters and scallops. Feel free to call ahead for special orders: (207) 350-7054.
Come Home to the Topside Inn
A relaxing morning at the Boothbay Farmers Market is the perfect way to start a summer day. But if you can’t make it to the market, there’s no need to worry! In addition to the vendors listed above, we use local bread, Springdale Farm cream cheese, and microgreens from MicroMainea in our gourmet breakfast dishes. We even harvest edible flowers and herbs from our own gardens! So what are you waiting for? Book your stay today and enjoy the bounty that Maine has to offer. We look forward to having you this summer!
