Maine State Music Theatre Schedule

We can’t wait for the summer season to begin! All of MSMT’s performances take place at the Pickard Theater on the campus of Bowdoin College, about 45 minutes from our inn. This striking Gothic-style building has 600 seats and features a proscenium stage equipped with a full fly system. There’s also a concession stand and restrooms. Some of the most anticipated shows include:

Always, Patsy Cline

The theater’s 2017 season kicks off June 7 – June 24 with fan favorite Always, Patsy Cline. This fun-loving musical explores the friendship between a housewife and the legendary country singer – a friendship that lasted until Patsy’s death in 1963. It was last seen at MSMT in 2010 and features 27 classic songs including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Back in Baby’s Arms.”

Guys and Dolls

Frank Loesser’s Guys and Dolls is in the second slot of the season. It’s been 16 years since this celebrated musical comedy was seen at MSMT, but you can experience it June 28 – July 15! Set in New York City, Guys and Dolls takes the audience from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City.

Grease

T-Birds and leather jackets take the stage July 19 – August 5 with Grease. Head “Greaser” Danny Zuko, new girl Sandy Dumbrowski, and the rest of the gang will perform “You’re The One That I Want,” “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin,” and more.

Newsies

Summer 2017 closes out with Broadway’s hit sensation Newsies from August 9 – 26. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the tale of a ragged band of teenagers who dream of a better life far from the streets. This high-energy show even boasts a score by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and Jack Feldman.
